Chili Con Carne

Ingredients :

  • Parsley to decorate
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • 30 cl of beef broth
  • 1 large can of red beans, drained
  • 2 teaspoons of cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 onions
  • 50g butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 65 g of tomato paste

Instructions :

STEP 1: Preheating the oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (thermostat 6).

STEP 2: Preparing the ingredients

  1. Chop the onions and crush the garlic cloves.

STEP 3: Cooking the onions and garlic

  1. In a cast iron casserole dish, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and crushed garlic, then gently brown until translucent.

STEP 4: Cooking the beef

  1. Add the ground beef to the casserole dish.
  2. Cook gently for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

STEP 5: Adding spices and other ingredients

  1. Mix chili powder, cumin powder and tomato paste.
  2. Add this mixture to the cooked beef.
  3. Add the drained red beans, beef broth, salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Stir well to mix all the ingredients well.

STEP 6: Bake

  1. Cover the casserole dish and cook in a preheated oven at 180°C for 25 minutes.

Training and Service

  1. Remove the casserole dish from the oven and stir the chili.
  2. Serve hot, decorated with chopped fresh parsley.
